About Cécile
The artist Cécile is the founder of Créatrix. She is also responsible for the Artistic District in Sainte-Foy, Quebec.

Biography
Cécile is a multidimensional artist originally from Martinique. Based in Montreal since 2004 and in Quebec City since 2022, she explores, through painting (oil or acrylic), singing, and a thousand and one whimsical ideas, how women—famous or unknown—cultivate their inner strength in order to BE and find their rightful place. She also develops, in collaboration with her beloved father, a collection of talismanic jewelry made from semi-precious stones and reclaimed wood.
Cécile had to reinvent the rules of exploration and self-expression for women. Her Creole culture is rich, diverse, and profound, but it is also the one that inherited the legacy of slavery, which oppresses, silences, and renders invisible the individual confined to their relationship with hard work.
From a very young age, Cécile stood out for her atypical profile as a young girl who excelled in science, particularly mathematics, as well as for her passion for building collections of objects. Her first artistic steps were unique and were forged through observing her father's meticulous work in woodworking and sewing.
Despite graduating with an engineering degree, Cécile embarked on an entrepreneurial journey in 2005, starting with a women's fitness center and then collaborating on the launch and expansion of a commercial real estate company. Seeking creative freedom, Cécile draws strength to tackle the stimulating challenges of this new adventure from personal and spiritual development.
After her business studies, Cécile decided to dedicate herself to art, which she had set aside and forgotten since her adolescence. She enrolled at the École des Beaux-Arts de Montréal (2018-2022) where she refined her techniques and affirmed her lush style.
The free expression of femininity and creativity, the connection with the ALL, and personal and spiritual development are all themes that guide the deliberate production of “talisman-works”.
